Broad Function and Purpose of Position

Mechanic will be required to work with a team for the purposes of maintaining production equipment, and keeping production equipment running.  Position also requires mechanic to perform troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance on all equipment and facilities, as well as any other maintenance tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting and repairing the following: Hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, conveyor equipment, powders/liquids feeders, mills, cranes, and other industrial equipment.
  • Perform frequent electrical and controls-related troubleshooting (PLCs, input/output modules, variable frequency drives).
  • Set-up and/or changeover equipment, troubleshoot and repair equipment and perform preventative maintenance on equipment in a safe and efficient manner to meet scheduling requirements.
  • Maintain a clean working environment and follow all safety guidelines and policies at all times. Report any unsafe conditions to the Maintenance Manager and Production Supervisor.
  • Insure equipment is running safely and meeting necessary quality specifications
  • Monitor equipment for adherence to efficiency and quality specifications. Respond to maintenance calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform building and utilities maintenance and document and test internal/external systems as necessary.
  • Read, understand, and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and blueprints.
  • Consult catalogs to order parts. If a part is hard to get, or if a machine must be fixed quickly, a mechanic may make a drawing of the part so that a machine shop can make a new part right away.
  • Repair and/or rebuild spare machines as needed.
  • Attend training classes as requested or needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Maintenance Manager/Production Supervisor/Director of Operations.

Preferred Skills

Qualifications/Experience/Education:

  • Must have high school diploma
  • Must have at least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of 480 Volt 3 phase power, logic controllers, motor starters and variable frequency drives
  • Courses in mechanical drawing, mathematics, blueprint reading, computers, and electronics are useful.
  • Mechanical aptitude, good reading comprehension skills, and the ability to work well with one's hands are necessary.
  • Willing and able to work in a hot/cold environment and stand 12 hours per day
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate fluently in English
  • Candidate may also be required to pass a Sika Corporation proficiency test, which will test both reading comprehension and math ability.
  • Working with FIIX software for Maintenance.
