Sika® Pump

Liquid concrete pumping admixture

Sika® Pump is a liquid concrete admixture to improve the pumpability of difficult concrete mixes. It improves the workability of the concrete which improves the concrete pump efficiency and protects the pump and pipes from excessive wear.

Usage

  • Concrete mixes with variable fines, a low cement content or a poor particle size distribution (granulometry) which tend to segregate when pumped and/or create very high pump pressures.
  • Concrete mixes with contaminated aggregates containing dirt and debris

Aqueous solution of polymeric viscosity regulators

Shelf life

24 months from date of production if stored in original, undamaged and sealed containers.

Storage conditions

The product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C. Always refer to packaging.

Technical Information

Concreting guidance

  • The standard rules of good concreting practice, concerning production and placing must be followed.
  • Laboratory trials must be carried out before concreting on site, especially when using a new mix design or producing new concrete components.
  • Fresh concrete must be cured properly and curing applied as early as possible.

Concrete mix design

  • The quantity of Sika® Pump in the mix design must be taken into consideration when determining the quantity of water for a specific w/c-ratio.
  • When using Sika® Pump, a suitable mix design must be calculated.
  • The local material sources used within the mix design must always be trialled and approved for suitability before commencement of the project.

Application

Application Information

Dispensing

  • Sika® Pump is added to the cement / aggregate mix in the batching plant concrete mixer after the addition of the gauging water. Do not add to a dry mix.
  • A wet mixing time after the addition of Sika® Pump at the batching plant of at least 90 seconds is recommended (dependant on mixing conditions and mixer performance).
  • Sika® Pump changes the viscosity of the concrete mix and requires a slightly higher mixer load than the basic mix at the same w/c ratio.

Increase the cohesion of difficult concrete mixes

~0,2 % to 0,4 % by weight of cement

Reduce the pump pressure and compensate for missing fine aggregate fractions in the mix

~0,5 % to 1,5 % by weight of cement
