Sika® Likit Plastik

Elastic Waterproofing Agent

Sika® Likit Plastik is a manually applied, acrylic copolymer, elastomeric resin based, one component, liquid plastic coating and rubber waterproofing agent.

Usage

Easily applied as a waterproofing agent for sills in roofs and balconies, canals, chimney surroundings, gutters and strainers in wide area and detailed, flat or inclined roofs. It fits to all types of structures and does not form cold joints

It should be applied at least in two layers. The consumption per layer, depending on substrate conditions, is app. 0,750 kg/m2 (vertical surfaces), 1,0 -1,5 kg/m2 (horizontal surfaces)

Waiting time to overcoating

Waiting time depends on the ambient temperature, substrate temperature, relative humidity and the thickness of coating applied. Before applying the second layer, make sure that the first layer is totally cured and dry. Wait 4-5 hours (at 23°C and %50 relative humidity).

Drying time

Sika® Likit Plastik applied at 20°C:

  • Achieves its mechanical strength after five days
  • Becomes fully waterproof after almost seven days
  • Reaches its final strength values after fourteen days
  • At low temperatures, above mentioned durations can be longer
  • A protective coating should be applied over Sika® Likit Plastik on surfaces subjected to pedestrian traffic, mechanical impact or wear and tear
Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

  • Substrate must be clean, uniform, dry, free of dust, oil or grease and loose or weak particles
  • Plastered and concrete surfaces should be cleaned with 1:10 Hydrochloric acid : water solution. Rinse the surface with clean water afterwards
  • Surface defects and voids should be repaired with suitable Sika®Monotop repair mortars
  • Steel surfaces should be painted with suitable anti-corrosion material before application. Sika® Likit Plastik, diluted to 25-30%, should be used as a primer on surfaces like eternit, foamed blocks, brick, tile, masonry, concrete and plaster.

APPLICATION

Application can be done by brush, roller, or spray gun. First layer should be applied in one direction only and following layer to be perpendicular to the previous one.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Clean all tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened and/or cured material can only be removed mechanically.
